When Tomatin Distillery was established in 1897, Tomatin's secluded and idyllic setting was nearly perfect. However, there was no local workforce; the local inhabitants were scattered herders and ranchers. The company started a construction project to accommodate its workforce. Since then, the distillery has been at the heart of the community and the community at the heart of the distillery. This legacy has continued and Tomatin remains one of the few distilleries that provides a home for its dedicated craftsmen.
